Hugo’s first experience in foodservice was in 1994 when his parents partnered in a food truck with a family friend. He watched his mother cook and prep every morning and then worked the truck with his sister & brothers. Hugo launched Red Rooster Tacos in 2012 and his commercial kitchen and commissary in San Bruno provides industry knowledge and mentoring for young entrepreneurs.

Jo comes with over 20 years’ experience in the corporate dining world and was a leader in the vision and culinary development for over 600 corporate restaurants across the United States. Most recently she spearheaded the Bay Area launch of FoodWorks which partners with local restaurants to bring their eclectic cuisines into corporate workplaces. Launching a restaurant is a tough challenge, and during a pandemic even more so. But there was no stopping Jo & Hugo.

The Lightbox Café’s expert leadership team’s #1 focus is customer safety, which is why we have reconfigured the restaurant to allow social distancing while also creating a place to relax and welcome the reconnection we have all missed over the last few weeks and months.
We have a strong and consistent training program for all of our team members to ensure they are fully up-to-date on the ever-changing needs in our world, plus our team members have all the proper uniforms and safety equipment necessary to work in a clean and sanitized environment.
